Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

DO I HAVE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

Shoots are by appointment only and are usually available Saturday and Sundays. But we will be opening weekdays up for Newborns soon. Please call 01782 901 008 Wednesday – Friday between 10am and 4pm or email us and we’ll call you to arrange your shoot.

WHO NEEDS TO ATTEND WHEN THE SHOOT INVOLVES CHILDREN AND UNDER 21S?

All those under 21yrs old must be accompanied by their parent(s) or legal guardian for all appointments at the studio, this includes their shoot and viewing session. For this reason, we ask that their parent or guardian book their session for them.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE CAN I BOOK MY SESSION?

We usually book a minimum of 3 days in advance to allow time to plan for your shoot and can make bookings up to 6 weeks in advance. Please note that weekend and holiday appointments in particular are very sought after, so please contact us as far ahead as possible.

WHERE IS THE STUDIO?

Photo Stoke is situated within the premises of Envisage in an industrial estate on Brick Kiln Lane in Basford/Cliff Vale. There is a map showing our location on our contact us page.

WHERE IS THE NEAREST TRAIN STATION?

Stoke-on-Trent train station is approximately 10 minutes away by taxi.

CAN I GET CHANGED AT THE STUDIO?

We have changing facilities at the studio and you’re welcome to change here for your shoot. Some shoots also include multiple outfits, so make sure you bring the correct changes of clothes.

WHO WILL BE MY PHOTOGRAPHER?

We have fantastic team of photographers, each of whom have their own areas of expertise and experience. We’ll book your shoot with who we think would be best for you and your family, but you are welcome to request a particular photographer or a female if you wish.

CAN YOU COME TO MY HOME OR ON LOCATION?

Location shoots are not approached in the same way as our studio service. Rather, it would be quoted for and charged at a commercial rate which would be agreed upfront. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

HOW DO I ORDER MY PHOTOS?

We will invite you to a viewing session following your shoot, usually a week or two later. At this appointment we will show you all the best images captured and take your order.

CAN I VIEW THEM ONLINE OR AT HOME?

We do not offer any online or remote viewing service, all orders are taken at the studio in your viewing session.

WHO NEEDS TO ATTEND THE VIEWING SESSION?

All adults included in the shoot need to come back to view the photographs, as do the parent(s) or guradian(s) of those under 21yrs. You are welcome to invite any other interested parties such as partners, siblings, grandparents, aunties and uncles.

HOW MUCH IS A SHOOT?

Our session fees start at £30 and vary depending on the type of shoot you’re looking for. However, the best idea is to order a gift voucher from our online shop as these offer a fantastic discount.

I ALREADY HAVE A VOUCHER, WILL I HAVE TO PAY A DEPOSIT?

All appointments require a refundable deposit to be paid when booking, the amount of which is determined by the type of shoot and is taken by card over the phone (we accept all credit and debit cards apart from AMEX). This secures both your shoot and viewing appointments and is normally deducted from the balance of your order or can be returned to your card.

CAN I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT FOR SOMEBODY ELSE?

We ask that clients arrange their own booking so that we can discuss their requirements with them. If you’d like to arrange a shoot for a friend or relative, we’d recommend ordering them a gift voucher from the Photo Nottingham online shop and then they can book in at a time to suit them.

IS THERE PARKING AVAILABLE?

Free parking is available in the large car park outside; please park in the visitors section on the left.

HOW LONG IS A SHOOT AT YOUR STUDIO?

We usually assign between 20 minutes and 2 hours in the studio depending on the shoot type, but it all depends on your requirements. Please contact us if you’re unsure.

CAN YOU ARRANGE MAKE-UP AND HAIR STYLING?

We have professional makeup artists and hair stylists at the studio, and so can arrange for styling before your shoot. Some vouchers include this service, but it can be added to any shoot depending on our availability. Please contact us to enquire.

DO YOU CUT AND COLOUR HAIR?

We only offer dry styling at the studio, so please ensure your hair is cut and coloured in time for your shoot.

DO YOU PROVIDE OUTFITS AND ACCESSORIES?

We do not have a wardrobe here, so please bring all the clothes and accessories you need for your shoot.

CAN WE BRING OUR OWN PROPS?

You’re very welcome to personalise your shoot with props of your own, please contact us if you’d like to discuss your ideas.

WHAT HAPPENS AT A VIEWING SESSION?

We allow an hour for your appointment which begins with a slideshow of your portraits. Your viewing consultant will then guide you through the process, advising you on the available products and creating a custom collection of portraits to suit your requirements.

DO I HAVE TO BUY THE PHOTOS?

There is no minimum order or an obligation to purchase, you simply purchase the photos you love.
